Dunmore
Cottage, circa 1800, has undergone massive renovation over the past
five years and is now one of the only fully restored period cottages
on the island. Great care was taken to maintain the cottage's historic
charm while at the same time providing every modern amenity. Not
only have all of the windows, plumbing , wiring and flooring been replaced,
the four bathrooms and outdoor shower have been re-built and beautifully
appointed. No detail has been overlooked, even down to the addition
of pressure tanks for plenty of shower-head water pressure and a second
hot water heater to ensure excellent supply.
The cottage has its own generator to cover island
power outages, and is fully air-conditioned except the guest cottage.
There are overhead ceiling fans in every room. The outdoor
shower is spacious and private. In January, 2003 the cottage’s
kitchen was completely "gutted" and all of its appliances,
counters and cabinets replaced. Now there are all stainless steel top-end
appliances such as a Maytag 3-rack dishwasher, GE "Adventium"
microwave oven, GE Stainless gas stove and oven, Corian countertops
, Sub-zero refrigerator, and Asko washer. From a central stereo system,
speakers are carefully concealed in various locations. The living room
cable TV is DVD equipped, and the Cable TV in the master bedroom is
VCR equipped. The new gas grill is perfect for cook-outs, and there's
even a digital "hotel safe" to protect our guests belongings. Finally,
bring your laptop! The cottage is now fully connected at 586k for our
guests convenience- no extra charge! The "Dunmore Cottage
Guest's Guide" is always furnished in the cottage and kept up to
date to make sure new guests know the hottest and the latest things
and places happening on the island. No detail to enhance comfort has
been overlooked!
Guests are provided with a social membership at Coral Sands Hotel for
beach and tennis privileges. On
a daily basis, while you are out enjoying the island, the cottage is
meticulously cleaned by its wonderful housekeeper. Because of the central air-conditioning,
summer rentals are most pleasant, and fishing — while good year
‘round — is at its best then.
